Meet Our Local Government Guests

It’s time to meet our Local Government team who’ll be joining us at our Local vs Central Government debate.

First up on the Local Government team is Cr Hon Maurice Williamson, the newly elected Auckland Councillor for Howick Ward. Maurice was also the MP for Pakuranga for just over thirty years, and held several Ministerial portfolios over that time.

Joining him is Cr Kerrin Leoni, also a newly elected Auckland Councillor, but this time out west - in the Whau Ward. Kerrin was previously the Deputy Chair of the Waitematā Local Board, and has whakapapa to Ngāti Paoa, Ngāi Takoto and Ngāti Kurī.

Rounding out the Local Government team is Victoria Short, an elected member on the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board. Victoria is also the first person of Kiribati descent to hold elected political office in New Zealand!
